This is one of the college that I've visited. I went there after paying a visit to Sarah. It's small but pleasant. Don't know if Sarah ever noticed the beauty of her college.

My Egyptian Friends
|
|
When I first came to Cambridge, I'm alone and hardly know any sister here. Coming from a Muslim country, I have all the conviniences to perform my 'ibadah', but going to a non-Muslim country, it really worried me a lot, including my friends too. Alhamdulillah, Muslims are everywhere, that is the beauty of ISLAM. Muslim and muslim are like brothers, and of course, muslimah and muslimah are always like sisters. I'm proudly to introduce two of my Egyptian friends here in Cambridge.
When I was in a lost of how to go to the bank in the town, there came a girl with hijab, kindly offering helps. She then brought me to the town, and showed me how to go to the bank, Sainsbury's and later, she brought me to the Jumaah prayer. That was the first Friday prayer and the first jemaah prayer. And she is the one and only Dina Saleh, a third year medicine students, staying in New Hall. Guess how old is she?
Her family is from Egypt, of course, but she was borned in UK. They stay in London now. She is very understanding, helpful, humorous, brave and all the good things you can think of. Plus, she can speak Arabic and of course recite Quran melodiously. A model of a good Muslim. Whenever you feel bad or down, she is always there to listen and help. She reminds me of NANA (not the look, but the characters), miss her so much. I only got 1 picture to show you, who this special Dina is (Pirate DNA)
Another great Egyptian friend that I want to introduce is Sarah Abdulla or Sarah Abu Uffa. As like Dina, she is also a third-year medicine student, but she stays in Gonville & Caius College in the town. She was borned in UK and now lives in Leicester. I first met this young lady in the ISOC freshers' Iftar in St. Columbus Church. She has this very stunning smile that can capture your heart. After several meetings, then we started to YM each other.
She looks so delicate and vulnerable but you know that she is the amirah of the sisters in ISOC? Organizing and coordinating programs and sisters in Cambridge, what a huge responsibility she has on her shoulders. She is very soft-spoken, polite, humble, and more than I can describe. Of course she can speak Arabic as well as Dina but I've never listened to her recitation of Quran. She always remind me of Siti Mariam, a very good friend of mine that is also an amirah of an Islamic society in UTM and of course has most of the characters as Sarah.
I got lots of Sarah's pictures in her room that I can share with you. A very Egyptian room.
Gonna miss them so much after they have gone to clinical practise out of Cambridge next year.

Yeah, today is my birthday, but no celebration, no party, no nothing, just a simple prayer for the goodness of the rest of my life. Gratefully there are still piles of emails sending in to wish me, but, I just got too much work to be done. See me, sitting by my laptop, doing my corrections for the first assignment. But, alhamdulillah, I still got a little time to go out and snap some nice pictures before I have to return the camera to Kak Intan. Thanks Kak Intan for having my birthday such a memorable one.

In the massive headache of completing the first 6000-word-assignment wondering what is my epistemology, ontology, methodology and theoritical perspective of my research; and the financial problem caused by my sponsor, I decided to escape out of this situation for just one day trip to Nottingham. This is an annual programme run and participated by all the Malaysian Society in UK. There were netball, football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, snooker, scrabble and chess. I think, more than 1000 Malaysian students were here either as players or supporters.
Went out as early as 6.00am, with the ticket as supporter of Cambridge Team, but eventually went to support Newcastle's Netball Team as I didn't know where was my team (a betrayal?). Anyway, I'm still supporting Malaysian, right?
Apart from the games, Kak Intan and I went to the beautiful Lakeside of the Universitiy of Nottingham, for what else, of course, it's photography session with the best cameragirl in Cambridge! Thanks Kak Intan for the nice shots.
There was also the Malaysian Feast selling nasi lemak, nasi minyak, nasi tomato, sate, mee rebus, mee kari, burger Malaysia, sambal... Finally, Cambridge only won the Scrabble but all of us were happy with the trip. Watched 'Pulp Fiction' all the way back and arrived home at 8.00pm.
One last comment: It's extremely freezing there!

Raya di Soton II
|
|
Ni hari ketiga di Soton. Selama 3 hari ini sempatlah gi beraya kat 5 rumah. Dapat jugak merasa suasana beraya di sini. Sini semua orang duduk dekat2. Jalan kaki je kalau nak gi raya. Satu lorong tu dah macam jadi Kampung Melayu. Sambil beraya tu, sempat jugak gi jalan-jalan. Gi Whiteley Village shopping, tapi tak beli pape pun. Pas tu gi tengok TITANIC, bukan tengok ceritalah, tengok muzium dia di Southampton.

Raya di Soton I
|
|
|
Seronok beraya ramai2 bersama-sama supervisor lagi! Harap one day kat Cambridge pun boleh buat something gempaq macam gitu, at least nampaklah harmoni dan meriahnya Malaysians beraya...
