Gonville & Caius College Congregration 2006
Today 3 of my friends in Gonville & Caius College graduated. They are medicine students but funny enough their degree is called Bachelor of Art. They all wore white hood with their blue college gown. I get to attend the congregation in the Senate House but couldn't take any picture inside.
Basically the graduation started the day before the congregation. There is a dinner in the evening before the congregation day. The next day, the students (around 100 + each college) gather in the college for group photo and then rehearsal (they only know what will happen in the Senate House 2-3 hours before the actual ceremony! ). Then, they all assemble and lead by the college praelector to march to the Senate House. Colleges that are near to the Senate House walk only 20 yards (like this college, just next door), but college like mine, will walk half an hour. The students stand behind the senate house while the guests walk in (I got a ticket! ). Once everyone is ready, the President of the college will march in and after that, all will only speak in LATIN which most of the people couldn't understand. Every time 4 students step forward and hold the praelector's fingers while the praelector speaks some Latin sentences. Then, the name will be called and the student steps forward and kneels in front of the President, holds out the hands and the president will clasp the hands and speak some Latin too (At this time, the automatic camera will take a snap). After that, the student walks out of the Senate House, receives the degree and waits by the lawn for the ceremony to finish before all the guests (parents) come out.
So, it's quite bored if your friend (surname with A or B) goes out first and you have to sit there and wait until the whole ceremony ends. My friends - 2 are A and 1 is D, so the rest... kinda don't know what to do.
Anyway, CONGRATULATION! You all deserve this for your hard work over these 3 years. MashaALLAH.

Dessert making
It's exciting to make dessert for the ISOC Garden Party tomorrow. We didn't really finish the initial idea today but managed to make another dessert, well, a England Flag Triffle. Not much pictures taken cos I'm helping too (don't want to get Kak Long's camera full of chocolate )

Botanic Garden

This is my second visit to the University Cambridge Botanic Garden. The previous pictures are here. This time I went with a group of sisters and some New Hallers. Before I get their consensus to display some of their photos that I've taken, here are some summer flora in the Botanic Garden.

Last Tuesday (6th June) was the last day of the class. Today, we went to Orchard for the End of Course Celebration. This is a very famous place for the English cos they like tea and biscuits under the summer sun. We have our lunch under the sun (but not really a nice thing to do in Malaysia). It was reported today was the HOTTEST day in UK (29C).
This was supposed to be a happy day but we still have a dissertation to write, not many turned up, so, it's not as fun and relax as it meant to be. But, we'll definitely going to have another REAL End of Course Celebration after 17th July. So, still busy...

Najwa's Wedding
Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah. Najwa, the first friend that I told about my intention to revert, has finally ended her 'single' life and started a new life with the one she loves. At 3.15pm, with a declare of 'akad', she is married to Helmi whom I've never met before. I wish them both will live happily ever after until the Day the Jannah is openned for them and of course their 'soleh' children. Amin.
I'm sooooooooooooooo happy for them.
